The West Africa Specialty Coffee Association (WASCA), in partnership with Brazil’s leading agricultural firm Kukuza Agronegocio, is hosting an exclusive two-week intensive training programme for Nigerian coffee stakeholders.
Set to run from March 6–20, 2026, in Brazil—the heart of global coffee trade—this immersive programme is designed to boost Nigeria’s coffee industry, expand agro-tourism opportunities, and equip participants with world-class expertise.
Attendees will experience hands-on training across the entire coffee value chain, including:
-
Sustainable farming & climate-resilient practices
-
Field immersions & cooperative farm visits
-
Laboratory sessions on processing, fermentation, drying, and cupping
-
Strategic planning with Brazilian coffee stakeholders
-
Branding, storytelling & direct trade strategies for premium markets
This knowledge-sharing initiative is critical for unlocking Nigeria’s coffee potential. Despite vast resources, Nigeria exported only $109,000 worth of coffee in 2023—importing 95% of what it consumes. By empowering Nigerian farmers and stakeholders, this programme aims to reverse the import trend, strengthen local production, and open new global markets.
Participants will also study the Araponga cooperative model and other successful governance systems to learn how farmer-led organizations in Brazil increase empowerment, revenue, and market access.
According to WASCA President, Larry Segun-Lean, this event will help coffee-producing states in Nigeria boost revenue, create jobs, and alleviate poverty by transforming coffee into a sustainable economic driver.
